Don't just sit and wait if the fever is rising. Take a normal paracetamol after checking with your doctor, and drink plenty of water. If the fever is very high or doesn't go down in 2 days, go to a clinic immediately.
Whenever my family gets a mild fever, I use cold water sponge strips on the forehead to bring the temperature down naturally. It really helps give comfort. But if they feel very weak or shivering, I call our family doctor right away.
Having a fever is the worst because you are sweating and freezing at the same time. I just wrap myself in a light sheet, sip warm water, and try to sleep through the misery. Skip the heavy blankets, you don't want to bake yourself!
Remember, fever is just your body fighting an infection. Keep track of the temperature with a digital thermometer every 4 hours. If it goes above 102°F or is accompanied by a severe headache or stiff neck, seek medical help immediately.
I log my temperature readings on my fitness app to see the trend. Staying hydrated with electrolyte water and taking complete rest is crucial. If the app shows my resting heart rate is consistently too high during the fever, I book a doctor's consult.
Take it as a sign from the universe to do absolutely nothing and binge-watch your favorite shows. Just stay hydrated with coconut water, take your doctor-prescribed pills, and relax!
I had a bad viral fever last month. The most important thing is not to self-medicate with random antibiotics. Stick to paracetamol as prescribed by your doctor, eat light food like khichdi, and let your body rest fully.
