How to check thyroid at home?

My mother has thyroid problems, so I'm always a little cautious about it. Are there any early signs or symptoms I can look out for, or some basic ways to check my thyroid health at home?

Don't spend hours trying to self-examine your neck at home. Just use an app to book a home blood collection for a Thyroid Profile (T3, T4, TSH). The lab technician will collect the sample at your convenience, which is much more efficient.

Beta, you can check by holding a mirror and swallowing a sip of water. Look closely at the lower part of your neck above the collarbone to see if there is any bulge. But a blood test is the only real way, so please get that done.

When my weight kept increasing despite me cutting down on my favorite butter chicken, I knew something was wrong. I did the quick mirror swallow test at home to check for neck bulges, but finally a blood test confirmed my underactive thyroid.

You can observe if you have persistent fatigue or sudden mood changes, and do a gentle swallow check in front of the mirror. Keep your mind positive and calm, but do get a proper medical blood checkup to be absolutely sure.

I do a quick neck check at home by tilting my head back, drinking some water, and watching for any asymmetrical lumps in the mirror. But remember, this only catches physical swelling, not actual thyroid levels, so a blood test is still necessary.

My daughter had sudden weight changes, so we did the neck-swallow test at home first and noticed a tiny swelling. We immediately called a home lab service for her blood test. It is better to check early rather than wait.

You can track your resting heart rate and weight fluctuations on your fitness tracker to spot thyroid trends. For physical swelling, the mirror swallow test is a good preliminary check before you book an LFT and Thyroid blood panel.
