How to check pcos?

My periods have been very irregular, and I've noticed some unusual hair growth. My friends are suggesting it might be PCOS. What are the common symptoms, and how can one get checked for PCOS?

Hey, don't stress too much about it right now! Just track if your periods are coming very late, or if you are suddenly getting stubborn acne and facial hair. If these match, just book a quick consultation with a sweet gynecologist who can guide you.

Please do not try to self-diagnose PCOS using random internet lists. I ignored my irregular cycles and gained heavy weight, which later led to severe fertility struggles. Please see a doctor and get a pelvic ultrasound and hormone blood test done properly.

Beta, back in our days we didn't even know this name, but irregular periods and sudden weight gain were always signs of hormonal imbalance. Don't worry, it is very common and completely manageable with a healthy lifestyle and a good doctor's guidance.

I was diagnosed with PCOS two years ago. I first noticed that my cycles were going up to 45 days, and I had crazy hair fall. If you are facing this, go for a doctor-advised blood test on day 2 or 3 of your period to check your hormone levels.

If you want to check for PCOS, look for package deals on diagnostic laboratory websites. A combined package of PCOS hormone tests and a pelvic ultrasound usually costs around 2000 to 3000 rupees. It is much cheaper than booking everything separately.

I was reading about this recently because my friend has it. Apparently, doctors check for three things: irregular periods, high androgen levels (like excess body hair), and polycystic ovaries on an ultrasound. You need at least two of these to confirm PCOS.

There is no simple single test you can do at home. You need to visit a lady doctor who will advise a blood test for thyroid, prolactin, and sugar, along with a sonography of your abdomen. It is very standard and doesn't take much time.
