How to bring down a fever fast?

I've woken up with a sudden high fever and need to be back at work tomorrow. What can I do to bring down a fever really fast, so I can at least feel a bit better?

When a fever comes, the body is trying to heal. I find that gentle breathing exercises, like Sitali Pranayama (cooling breath), can help bring a sense of calm and coolness. Of course, always with lots of water and resting. But if it's too high, one must consult a doctor without delay, to understand the root cause.

I was just researching this for myself last week! Everyone says lots of fluids, like water, lemon water, ORS. And taking a lukewarm bath helps reduce body temp. If it's really high, you usually need some fever medicine, but don't just pop anything, ask a doctor or pharmacist first.

Okay, 'fast' means you need to be smart about it. First, take your prescribed fever medicine (paracetamol/ibuprofen) on time. Second, lukewarm sponge baths or a shower really work wonders for quick relief. Third, keep hydrated – water, tender coconut water, ORS. And light clothes, a cool room. This usually helps bring it down pretty quickly.

Bringing fever down fast is important for comfort. In my time, we used to just cover less, drink lots of water, and apply cold compresses. Now, with medicines like paracetamol, it's easier. But remember, fever is just a symptom, so always see a doctor to find out why you have it, especially if it's high or lasts long.

For a quick drop, the basics are usually sufficient. Take your fever medicine as prescribed by a doctor, no skipping doses. Then, keep yourself lightly dressed, open a window if it's not too cold outside. Lukewarm sponge baths are also very effective. And keep drinking water frequently. These practical steps often do the trick quickly.
