How to breathe through nose during sleep?

Someone told me it's healthier to breathe through your nose, even during sleep. I usually breathe through my mouth. Are there any techniques or tips to train myself to breathe through my nose while sleeping?

Oh, nasal breathing during sleep is a game-changer! ✨ I started using mouth tape (the special one for sleeping, not regular tape!) and it really helped train my mouth to stay shut. Also, clearing your nose before bed with a saline spray can make a huge difference. Good luck! 😊

I used to snore so much, and my wife kept complaining! I tried everything – elevating my head, sleeping on my side. What actually helped was consistent steam inhalation before bed and doing some simple breathing exercises during the day to strengthen nasal breathing. Also, checked for allergies, turned out to be a mild dust allergy.

Simple solution for me was to just keep my bedroom air clean and use a humidifier if it's too dry. Also, I try to sleep on my side, not my back. It seems to help keep the airways more open. And a small pillow, not a big fluffy one.

This is very important for overall health, not just sleep. Mouth breathing can affect BP too, I heard. I make sure to do some pranayama exercises like Anulom Vilom during the day to clear my nasal passages. And get checked for any polyps or deviated septum by an ENT if it's a chronic problem.

My son used to mouth breathe and it was affecting his sleep badly. Our pediatrician suggested making sure his nose is clear before bed – a saline rinse and sometimes a nasal strip. Also, checking for enlarged tonsils or adenoids is important in kids, so maybe get an ENT check for yourself if it's persistent.

I totally get it, waking up with a dry mouth is the worst! For me, reducing dairy and being careful about cold foods helped reduce congestion. And honestly, just being conscious about it during the day, trying to breathe through your nose, slowly makes it a habit even at night.
