Becoming a 'licensed' mental health counselor without a degree is typically not possible. Licensing bodies usually require specific academic qualifications, just like managing diabetes requires precise knowledge and not just guesses. You might be able to work in related support roles, but for a true counselor, formal training is essential for safety and effectiveness.

My doctor emphasized that becoming a licensed mental health counselor usually requires a master's degree and supervised clinical hours. While some roles like peer support specialist or health coach might not need a traditional degree, the term 'counselor' and 'licensed' generally implies formal education and strict regulatory requirements. It's vital to differentiate between these roles.

Honestly, for anything that involves counseling someone's mental health, a proper degree and licensing are crucial. I've seen how complicated things can get if you don't have qualified help. Please, if you're serious about this, invest in formal education. Without it, you might accidentally do more harm than good. It's better to be fully qualified.

Straight up, you can't become a 'licensed' mental health counselor without a relevant degree, typically a Master's. The licensing bodies are very clear on that. If you want to help people without that degree, look into roles like peer support or certified coaching, but they aren't the same as a licensed counselor.

Counselor without a degree? That's like trying to bake a cake without flour, yaar! Technically, for LICENSED counselor, a degree (usually a Master's) is pretty much non-negotiable. You could probably be a 'friend who listens really well' without one, but not a licensed professional. Save your jokes for later, get that degree first!

For a 'licensed' mental health counselor, in most places, a master's degree in counseling or a related field is a fundamental requirement. While there are roles like peer support specialist or recovery coach that don't always need a degree, they are distinct from licensed counselors. It's best to check with the official licensing board in your area for accurate and definitive information.
