How to ask for a mental health day?

I've been feeling really stressed and burnt out at work lately. I think I need a break to focus on my mental well-being. How do you politely ask for a mental health day without sounding unprofessional?

My doctor actually suggested to frame it like any other sick day. You can simply say you're not feeling well enough to work and need to take a day off for your health. You don't have to disclose it's specifically for mental health unless you feel comfortable and your workplace is supportive. Focus on needing rest and recovery.

It's becoming more common now, so don't hesitate. Just like you'd take a day off for a physical illness, you can for mental well-being. A simple email or message to your manager saying, 'I need to take a sick day today as I'm not feeling well' is perfectly acceptable. Prioritize yourself!

My parents always say 'health is wealth', and that includes our minds too. When you ask for a day off, just say you need a day for personal well-being or are not feeling well. No need for full details unless you want to share. Your doctor will also advise the same, that sometimes rest is the best medicine.

I used to panic so much about asking for a day off for my mental health, thought it would look bad. But honestly, it's become quite normal. I just tell my manager 'I'm taking a personal health day today' or 'I need a sick day for my well-being'. Most workplaces understand now. Don't stress about it too much, it's okay.

Just like we take time for our asanas and pranayama to find inner peace, sometimes our mind needs a full day to rest. You can gently communicate to your superiors that you need a day for your personal well-being. It's about self-care, and a calm mind helps in better work too. Take that pause, dear.

This is something I've been wanting to do but wasn't sure how. So just saying 'not feeling well' is enough? What if they ask for more details? My workplace can be a bit strict, so I always worry.

Look, your well-being comes first. Just send a polite message to your manager saying you're not feeling up to coming in today and will be taking a sick day. You don't owe them a detailed explanation if you're not comfortable. Take that day to recharge, it's really important, chote.
