How to alleviate ingrown toenail pain?

My big toe nail has been causing me a lot of trouble lately, it feels like an ingrown nail and it really hurts, especially when I wear shoes. Tried trimming it myself but no use. What can I do to ease this pain?

Do not try to perform bathroom surgery by cutting the corner of the nail yourself. I tried that once based on a blog post and ended up with a severe bone-deep infection. Go to a podiatrist or a general surgeon to get it trimmed professionally under local anesthesia.

Please take care of your feet, as they carry us through our entire life journey. Soak your foot in warm water with rock salt to gently ease the throbbing. Keep a calm mind, avoid wearing tight footwear, and let the healing process happen naturally.

It is amazing how a tiny millimeter of nail growing sideways can make a grown man cry like a baby. I had to walk around the office in open sandals looking like a fool. A warm soak helps, but cutting your nails straight instead of curved is the real trick.

An ingrown toenail can quickly turn into a nasty bacterial infection if left untreated. If there is pus, swelling, or redness spreading down the toe, please visit a doctor immediately. Do not put any tight socks or closed shoes on it for now.

Being a high BP patient, I have to be extremely careful with any foot injuries or infections because healing can be slower. I always keep my blood pressure monitored and visit my doctor even for a small nail infection. Better to get it checked by a professional.
