How prevalent is asthma?

My nephew was recently diagnosed with asthma, and it came as a shock to our family. I wanted to understand how common this condition is, especially in India. Is it something a lot of people deal with?

Asthma is very common these days, especially with all the smoke and dust in our air. I have seen so many people find relief through gentle pranayama like Anulom Vilom. It helps strengthen the lungs, but always keep your regular medicine close.

With the pollution in our cities, it feels like half of India has some sort of breathing trouble or asthma now. Even my own lungs complain if I walk near the main road. It is highly prevalent, so just accept the inhaler if your doc tells you to.

I have had asthma since childhood, and trust me, millions of Indians live normal lives with it. The key is to never be ashamed of using your preventive inhalers as prescribed. Keep your house dust-free and do regular doctor follow-ups.

Agreed, asthma is very prevalent now. Wearing a good N95 mask while travelling in traffic has really helped me manage my breathing issues.

Asthma is extremely common in both kids and elders now due to rising dust and seasonal changes. A simple, practical step is using high-quality air purifiers inside bedrooms and wearing a mask outside. It really saves you from frequent chest congestion.

The numbers are massive; asthma affects over 30 million people in India alone, mostly triggered by urban air quality. If you have a persistent dry cough or wheezing, don't ignore it as a normal cold. Go to a pulmonologist and get a spirometry test done.
