How often do you need a tb shot?

My office recently had a health camp, and they were talking about TB vaccinations. I got one when I was really young, but I'm not sure if it's still effective. How often do you need a TB shot, or is it a one-time thing?

I totally get why you're asking this. Health questions can be confusing! For TB, the BCG vaccine is usually given once, typically in childhood (like when you're a baby). After that, adults generally don't need additional 'TB shots' unless there's a specific, very high-risk situation or exposure that your doctor identifies. It's not a routine booster for most.

Um, I'm not really sure about this, but I think the TB vaccine (BCG) is mostly for babies, right? I don't remember getting any TB shots as an adult. So, if I got it when I was a kid, am I still protected now? Or do grown-ups need it again sometimes? It's a bit confusing.

Just to clarify, the BCG vaccine for TB is a childhood vaccine, usually given once at birth or early infancy. It's not a vaccine that adults routinely get or need booster shots for. If there's a concern about TB exposure or symptoms, doctors usually recommend diagnostic tests like a sputum test or chest X-ray, or sometimes a TB skin test, but not another vaccine shot.

Managing high BP means I'm very diligent about checkups and necessary vaccinations. For TB, the BCG vaccine is usually a single shot given in infancy. After that, as adults, we typically don't need more 'TB shots' unless a doctor recommends it due to specific risk factors or potential exposure. It's about careful monitoring and following medical advice for your overall health.

Namaste. It is always good to protect our body, which is a temple. The BCG shot for TB is given in early life, once. After that, it is generally considered to provide lifelong protection. Stay positive, keep your mind calm, and take care of your health with good food and clean air. If any concern, talk to your doctor, they are there to help.

Breathing deeply and keeping our bodies strong helps immunity. For the TB shot, from my understanding and experience, the BCG vaccine is a one-time thing given to children. Adults usually don't need it again unless there's a unique medical reason or high exposure. Focus on a holistic approach to health, and if you have symptoms, consult a doctor.

Hey, don't worry about needing frequent TB shots. The BCG vaccine, which protects against TB, is typically a one-time shot given to infants. After that, for most adults, you usually don't need it again. Unless you're in a very specific high-risk environment, like some medical professionals, it's not a regular thing. Just keep calm and talk to your family doctor if you have any real concerns.

Okay, so the 'TB shot' usually refers to the BCG vaccine, which is given once in infancy. For adults, routine boosters are generally NOT recommended in India unless you're in a very high-risk category (like specific healthcare roles with direct exposure) or if you're traveling to certain endemic regions. Most healthy adults don't need frequent repeat shots. If you have specific concerns, a TB skin test (Mantoux) is usually done first, not another vaccine.
