How often do newborns sleep?

My sister just had her first baby last week, and he sleeps so much! We're all new to this, so just wanted to understand how much a newborn should actually be sleeping in a day. Kabhi-kabhi lagta hai he sleeps all the time.

Haan ji, newborns toh bas sote hi rehte hain, na? Like 16-17 hours in a day, but in small small pieces. Every 2-3 ghante mein uth jaate hain doodh peene. It's normal, don't worry agar tumhara baby aise karta hai.

Newborns sleep a lot, usually about 16-17 hours daily, but in short periods. It's normal for them to wake frequently. You are doing great.

There are so many 'expert' opinions online about newborn sleep, but every baby is different. While the average is 14-17 hours a day in broken cycles, don't stress if your baby doesn't fit the 'norm.' If you have real concerns about your baby's sleep patterns or feeding, please consult your pediatrician, not Dr. Google.

My doctor always stresses the importance of good sleep for overall health, even for newborns. They sleep a significant amount, usually 14-17 hours a day, but in short, frequent bursts due to feeding needs. For diabetics, consistent sleep also helps manage blood sugar, so it's a critical component of health from the very beginning.

Newborns generally sleep a lot, averaging 14-17 hours in a 24-hour cycle, but it's typically broken into multiple short naps. However, if your newborn seems excessively lethargic, is difficult to wake, or isn't feeding well, it's crucial to consult a pediatrician immediately. Always get it checked for safety, especially with infants.

Newborns sleep a lot, generally 14-17 hours in a day, but it's not continuous. They wake up for feeds often. For adults, good sleep is vital, just like managing BP with regular checkups and a healthy lifestyle. For babies, their sleep is crucial for development, so ensure they are sleeping and feeding well.
