How much sleep is too much?

On weekends, I sometimes sleep for 10-11 hours, trying to catch up on lost sleep from the week. My husband says it's not good to sleep too much. How much sleep is generally considered too much for an adult, and can it be harmful?

More than 9-10 hours regularly could be too much for most adults. It can make you feel sluggish, not more rested. If you're consistently oversleeping, it might be worth adding some light activity like a walk, if your doctor says it's okay. Exercise helps regulate sleep.

For adults, generally sleeping more than 9 or 10 hours regularly can be too much. It's good to aim for the healthy range.

More than 9-10 hours on a regular basis for adults could be considered too much. It can make you feel lethargic all day. A practical solution is to gradually adjust your sleep schedule by 15-30 minutes each day until you reach that 7-9 hour window.

I used to oversleep a lot, sometimes 10-12 hours, and would still feel exhausted. Turns out, it wasn't helping at all. My doctor explained that consistently more than 9 hours for an adult can sometimes indicate an underlying issue. Now I stick to 7-8 hours and feel much better.

Agar aap roz 9-10 ghante se zyada so rahe ho toh haan, woh zyada ho sakta hai. Body ko bhi routine chahiye. Zyada sone se bhi laziness aati hai, aur health ke liye accha nahi hota.

Excess sleep, like more than 9 hours consistently, can also be a problem. My doctor told me that both too little and too much sleep can affect blood pressure and other health markers. It's about moderation. If you're always feeling the need for excessive sleep, a checkup is a good idea.

For most adults, sleeping more than 9 or 10 hours consistently can actually make you feel more tired and sluggish. I've noticed that if I oversleep on weekends, my whole week feels off. It's about finding that balance where you wake up feeling genuinely rested, not groggy.

From a health perspective, consistently sleeping more than 9 or 10 hours can sometimes be indicative of an underlying issue, like sleep apnea, depression, or other medical conditions. While catching up on sleep is fine occasionally, chronic oversleeping isn't ideal. It's worth observing and perhaps discussing with a doctor if it's a regular pattern.
