How much should six week old sleep?
My baby is now six weeks old and her sleep pattern seems very erratic. One day she sleeps a lot, the next she's up more. Can anyone share how much sleep is typical for a six-week-old?

My cousin's baby is six weeks old and honestly, he just sleeps like 15 hours a day. He wakes up, cries for milk, and then goes right back to sleep. It seems like a pretty chill life, so I think your baby is doing exactly what they are supposed to do.
Our elders always say a growing baby needs 15 hours of sleep, and they are right. Don't buy expensive sleeping swings or gadgets from online ads. A simple, comfortable cotton bed sheet and a quiet room are all a six-week-old needs to sleep peacefully.
I completely agree with the 14-16 hours average. Creating a consistent dark room routine for daytime naps really helped my six-week-old settle down much faster.
At six weeks, babies generally transition to about 14 to 16 hours of total daily sleep, including day naps. However, this is also when a major growth spurt can happen. It is always best to consult your pediatrician to ensure their development is on track.
