How much selenium for thyroid?

My doctor said my thyroid levels are a bit off, and mentioned that selenium can be helpful. I want to know how much selenium one should take specifically for supporting thyroid function. Is there a general recommended amount?

I totally get it, managing thyroid issues can be so exhausting and confusing. Many people take around 100 to 200 micrograms of selenium to support their thyroid health. Just make sure to be gentle with yourself and take it one step at a time.

My sister suggested eating brazil nuts daily for thyroid support, but I preferred to consult our family doctor. He advised that while 100-200 mcg of selenium is good, excess selenium can be toxic. He prescribed the exact multi-vitamin dosage I needed.

When managing multiple health issues like diabetes and thyroid, you have to be very careful with supplements. The daily recommended limit for selenium is around 55 to 200 mcg. Never start high-dose supplements without checking your blood levels first.

Look, don't blindly buy selenium tablets from the internet. The daily requirement is just 55 mcg, which you can easily get from eating a healthy diet of eggs, mushrooms, and nuts. No need to overcomplicate things unless your doctor prescribes it.

We don't need to spend on expensive imported supplements. Eating just 2-3 pieces of regular walnuts or a cup of curd daily gives you enough selenium for healthy thyroid function. It is cheap, natural, and very easy to follow daily.

Don't worry too much about your thyroid readings, it is completely manageable. While selenium in the range of 100-200 mcg helps with thyroid antibodies, please get a proper blood test done. Let's not take any supplements without your doctor's green light.

I have been treating my hypothyroidism for five years. My doctor recommended 100 mcg of selenium daily to help reduce thyroid inflammation, but she insisted on regular TSH tests every three months. Always follow up with your doctor rather than self-treating.
