How much rem and deep sleep should you get?

Lately, my sleep quality hasn't been great, and I often wake up feeling groggy. I've read that REM and deep sleep are crucial for rest. How much REM and deep sleep should one ideally get each night for good health?

Between my office stress and my teenager's demands, getting even 5 hours of total sleep feels like a luxury! But apparently, we are supposed to get about 1.5 hours of both REM and deep sleep. If anyone finds out where to buy extra sleep hours, please let me know!

Don't worry too much about these scientific terms, child. Just try to sleep at a regular hour and keep your mind peaceful. Your body knows how to heal itself when you rest well.

Haan na, these smartwatches make us worry so much about REM and deep sleep percentages. Ideally, it should be around 20% of your night, but stress lene se sleep aur kharab hogi. Just relax and have a warm cup of milk before bed.

A light vegetarian dinner at least 3 hours before bed can significantly improve your deep sleep stages. Heavy, oily foods late at night force your digestive system to work, which directly reduces your body's ability to enter deep restorative sleep.

An average adult requires about 20-25% REM sleep and 15-20% deep sleep of their total sleep duration. If you consistently wake up tired despite tracking 'normal' hours, you should consult a sleep specialist. It could point to issues like mild sleep apnea.

Beta, in our days we massaged a little mustard oil on the soles of our feet before sleeping. It cools down the body and naturally brings deep, restful sleep. Try this simple home remedy instead of worrying about machine readings.

Drinking warm chamomile tea or haldi doodh before sleeping is wonderful for deep sleep. However, if your sleep issues are accompanied by chronic fatigue, snoring, or daytime gasping, please do see a doctor for a proper checkup.

I used to stare at my smartband sleep charts for hours, panicking because my deep sleep was under 45 minutes. If you are doing the same, please try to stop tracking for a week. Sometimes the anxiety of tracking sleep is what actually ruins our sleep quality.

Lack of proper deep sleep was one of the key factors that aggravated my high blood pressure. If you are consistently getting poor sleep, please check your BP regularly and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Proper rest is vital for cardiac health.

Before you plan to spend 15,000 to 20,000 rupees on fancy sleep clinics or expensive tracking mattresses, just try simple fixes. A basic black-out curtain and a cheap eye mask can easily improve your deep sleep without costing much.

Hey, don't stress yourself out looking at these complicated sleep charts. Just aim for a consistent 7-8 hours of sleep in a quiet room. Your brain will automatically manage the deep and REM cycles as long as you give it uninterrupted time.

I agree with others, around 1.5 to 2 hours of deep sleep is perfect. Avoiding screens after 9 PM helped me achieve this.
