How much pain relief can i take?

Been having a terrible headache since morning, and the usual paracetamol isn't doing much. I already took one, but it's still throbbing. Is it okay to take another one, or how much pain relief can I actually take in a day?

I used to pop paracetamol every time my head hurt and then panicked about liver damage. My doctor reassured me that up to 2000 mg a day is completely safe for short-term use. Just don't overdo it and stick to the packet instructions.

My family physician always emphasizes that the maximum daily limit of paracetamol is 4000 mg for adults, but it is safest to stick to 500 mg or 650 mg up to three times a day. Taking too many NSAIDs can cause stomach ulcers, so never exceed the recommended dose.

From what I have researched, taking one 500 mg paracetamol tablet every 4 to 6 hours is the standard safe limit. But we should really avoid mixing different pain relievers like ibuprofen without knowing if they interact.

At Apollo, the doctor strictly warned me against self-medicating with pain relievers, as they can mask serious underlying issues or affect your kidneys. Please ask your doctor clearly about the exact brand and dosage that is safe for your body.

Usually, for mild aches, one paracetamol 500 mg is enough to give relief. But if you have to take painkillers for more than 3 days continuously, it is a sign that you need to get evaluated by a professional.

For mild headaches, try a warm ginger tea and some rest before reaching for pills. But if the pain is severe, sudden, or accompanied by dizziness and chest tightness, please go to a hospital immediately instead of taking painkillers.
