How much money is a kidney worth?

My neighbour was talking about organ donation. It got me thinking, theoretically speaking, how much money is a kidney considered to be worth in different contexts, not just legally?

Oh god, please don't get into these weird thoughts! Buying and selling kidneys is completely illegal in India and carries huge jail time. If you or a loved one is dealing with organ failure, please stay calm and speak to a registered transplant coordinator at a big hospital.

Legal trade of organs does not exist, so there is no price tag, boss. If some agent online is promising money, it is a 100% scam to loot your registration fees. Focus on keeping your health good instead of reading these sketchy things online.

Our organs are absolutely priceless and trading them is a major crime under Indian law. Focus on drinking enough water and eating a low-salt, plant-based diet to keep your kidneys healthy. That is the real wealth we should care about.

This sounds like a very dangerous line of questioning. If you are facing extreme financial stress or mental health struggles, please talk to a professional counselor or doctor immediately. Do not trust any illegal online groups or black market claims.

According to the THOA Act in India, commercial dealing in organs is strictly banned and punishable by up to 10 years in prison. When my uncle needed a transplant, the hospital legal team made us go through months of verification just for a voluntary family donation. Don't fall for illegal internet myths.

Zero rupees. It is illegal, highly dangerous, and will land you straight in prison. If you are hearing some random rumors about black market rates, ignore them and don't get scammed by internet frauds.
