How much klonopin for sleep?

My friend sometimes takes Klonopin for anxiety, but she mentioned it also helps her sleep. I've been having trouble sleeping lately, so I was wondering, how much Klonopin is typically taken for sleep?

Clonazepam (the generic name for Klonopin) is a strong benzodiazepine. My neurologist clearly stated that it should not be used as a primary sleep aid because it alters sleep architecture and is highly habit-forming. For occasional severe anxiety-induced insomnia, doctors usually start with a very low dose of 0.25mg to 0.5mg.

I go to Apollo Hospital for my sleep issues, and they are very strict about these neuro medicines. You must ask your doctor clearly about the dosage and duration. Never adjust this medication on your own as it can have serious side effects on your brain.

The medicine is quite cheap, just 40-60 rupees for a strip of 10. But please budget for the psychiatrist's consultation fee first, which will be around 1000 rupees, as no chemist in India will give you this without a valid stamped prescription. Don't waste money self-treating.

My daughter was prescribed a very minor dose of this during her exams due to panic attacks. It helped her sleep, but we were very careful to give her exactly what the doctor wrote and stopped it within a week. Please don't let anyone take this long-term without strict medical supervision.

Look, Klonopin is not some random over-the-counter sleeping pill you can just pop. It is a heavy psychiatric drug. If you are having trouble sleeping, go see a specialist and get a proper prescription instead of asking for dosages online.

I have been struggling with sleep for weeks and a friend suggested this name. I am a bit scared of taking such strong medicines. Does it make you feel very drowsy or groggy the next morning?
