How much is one kidney?

My uncle is in a really bad situation, his kidneys are failing. We're exploring all options, and I was just wondering, hypothetically, how much a kidney costs if one were to need to buy one. This is just for my general knowledge.

Selling kidneys is completely illegal. If you are asking about the medical cost of a transplant surgery, it usually ranges between five to ten lakh rupees in India.

I was just researching this out of curiosity online last night. A kidney transplant surgery in India costs anywhere from six to twelve lakhs depending on the private hospital, while in the US it can go up to hundreds of thousands of dollars.

I totally get it, medical expenses can be incredibly stressful to think about. Just to clarify, buying or selling organs is a severe crime globally, but if you are looking at transplant costs, it is best to discuss package rates directly with major hospital transplant coordinators.

I was reading about organ transplants and got a bit confused. Does the government cover the cost of kidney transplants in government hospitals, or do patients have to pay for everything themselves?

Kidney health is extremely precious, and conditions like diabetes or thyroid issues can impact renal function over time. Rather than looking up transplant costs, please focus on regular kidney function tests and consult a nephrologist if you have any health concerns.
