How much has diabetes increased over the last 10 years?

My father has diabetes, and his doctor told him it's becoming more common in India. I was curious to know, how much has diabetes increased over the last 10 years in our country? It feels like everyone knows someone with it now.

My doctor, who specializes in metabolic disorders, mentioned that India's diabetes prevalence has seen a significant surge, almost doubling in some urban areas over the last decade. It's become a public health crisis, especially type 2, due to lifestyle changes, diet, and reduced physical activity. He stresses early screening.

I can't give exact numbers, but from my personal circle, I've definitely seen more people getting diagnosed with diabetes, even younger folks. It used to be rare for someone under 40, now it's not so surprising. It's quite concerning, honestly.

Beta, earlier only older people used to get sugar. Now I see so many young people with it. This is all because of our changed food habits and no walking. My grandmother used to say, walk daily and eat ghar ka khaana. It's better to live naturally.

Oh god, I've been reading about this and it's terrifying! The numbers are skyrocketing, especially for Type 2. It makes me so anxious about my own health and what we're eating. We really need to be more careful, everyone. Early testing is crucial.

Yes, unfortunately, the incidence of diabetes, particularly Type 2, has significantly increased in India over the last decade. It's a real concern driven by lifestyle changes. The best thing we can do is focus on prevention through diet and exercise, and encourage regular health screenings for everyone around us.

Increased? Bhai, it's not increased, it's exploded! Earlier it was a 'rich people disease,' now everyone is getting it. My family WhatsApp group feels like a diabetes support group sometimes. So much for 'healthy' Indian food, eh? Time to start walking, or rather, limping.

My parents keep talking about how it's everywhere now. Like, even friends my age are pre-diabetic or something, which is kinda scary. We need to cut down on all the junk food, for sure. It's a huge problem, seems like it's doubled or tripled in the last few years.
