How much do you get for donating a kidney?

My friend's father is very ill and needs a kidney transplant. I've been thinking about donating, but I also have some financial responsibilities. Can you tell me if there's any compensation for donating a kidney?

Legally, kidney donation is an act of altruism, meaning you don't get paid for it in India. Selling organs is illegal. If you're considering donation, make sure your own health, especially BP and kidney function, is perfectly fine through proper checkups.

Beta, you don't get money for giving a kidney. It is a very noble thing to do for someone who needs it. Only medical expenses are taken care of. It's a big decision, talk to your family and a good doctor.

It's illegal to be paid for organ donation in India. Only close relatives can donate, and costs related to the surgery for the donor are usually covered. It's a very generous act.

Let's be clear, organ donation is not about getting paid. It's illegal to sell or buy organs. If you're a donor, all your medical expenses during the process are covered, but no monetary compensation is given. It's a purely humanitarian act.

You don't get paid for donating a kidney. The law prohibits it. However, the recipient's family typically covers all the donor's medical tests, hospital stay, and surgery costs. It's important to clarify these arrangements beforehand so there are no financial surprises for the donor.
