How much do infants sleep?

My newborn is sleeping a lot, which is normal I think, but I'm wondering if it's too much or too little. How many hours do infants typically sleep in a day? I just want to make sure everything's okay with my baby.

Infant sleep patterns vary greatly, but generally, newborns sleep around 14-17 hours in a 24-hour cycle, often in short bursts. This gradually reduces as they grow. It's important to remember that every baby is different. For any specific concerns about your infant's sleep, please consult with your pediatrician for personalized advice.

Bro, my sister just had a baby, and that little one sleeps like, all the time. But then wakes up to eat, and back to sleep. My sis says newborns sleep for like 16-18 hours total, but not in one go. It's a lot of short naps only. They grow so fast though!

Newborns sleep a lot, don't worry. Around 16-17 hours is normal, but they won't sleep through the night immediately. Small naps, frequent feeds, that's how it is. Just make sure they are feeding well and gaining weight, rest will follow. Every child is different.

Ayyo, infants sleep a lot, especially in the first few months. My mother-in-law used to say 'sleep when the baby sleeps'. It's usually 14-17 hours in bits and pieces. But if you have any doubts, always good to check with your baby's doctor. They know best.

Hey, it's completely normal for infants to sleep a lot, sometimes up to 18 hours in a day, but usually in short cycles of a few hours. Don't worry if your baby isn't sleeping for long stretches at first. Just focus on their feeding and growth. If something feels off, you can always chat with your doctor.

When my son was a newborn, he slept a lot, like 16-18 hours in total, but it was all broken up. You'd feed, change, and then they'd sleep for 2-3 hours and wake up again. It's a cycle. Just make sure the baby is feeding well and has enough wet diapers. That's the main thing.

Don't just rely on general numbers from the internet. Each infant is unique. If you're concerned about your baby's sleep, whether it's too much or too little, you absolutely must consult with a pediatrician. They can rule out any underlying issues and give accurate advice based on your child's development.
