Deep sleep is super important for physical restoration and memory consolidation. While the total sleep goal is 7-9 hours, usually 13-23% of that should be deep sleep. If you're consistently getting less, or feeling constantly tired, please consult a doctor. Sleep disorders can have serious long-term health implications, I know someone who had complications because of it.

I've been tracking my sleep and deep sleep has always been something I aim for. Generally, for adults, about 1-2 hours of deep sleep per night is considered good, out of 7-9 hours total. It's crucial for feeling truly rested and for your brain to process things. Try to keep a consistent sleep schedule to improve it!

Roughly 15-25% of your total sleep should be deep sleep. So if you're aiming for 7-9 hours of total sleep, that means about 1 to 2.5 hours of deep sleep. This is the stage where your body repairs itself and your immune system gets a boost. Make sure your bedroom is dark, quiet, and cool for best deep sleep.

Deep sleep is key for feeling refreshed. Aim for 1.5 to 2 hours if you're getting enough total sleep.

This is something that makes me anxious! I track my sleep and sometimes my deep sleep is really low, even if I feel like I slept for 8 hours. Is it common to have fluctuations? What if you're consistently getting less than 1 hour? Does anyone else experience this and feel constantly tired?

It can be really frustrating when you're trying to get good sleep but just can't seem to get enough deep sleep. I used to worry constantly about my sleep cycles. Generally, around 1 to 2 hours of deep sleep is good. But don't stress too much about the exact numbers; focus on feeling rested and alert during the day. If you're always tired, that's the real sign.

My sleep specialist explained that deep sleep, or slow-wave sleep, is critical for physical repair, hormone regulation, and consolidating memories. For most adults, it should ideally constitute 15-25% of total sleep time. So, if you sleep for 7-9 hours, aim for roughly 1 to 2.25 hours of deep sleep. Consistent lack of it can impact overall health and cognitive function, so it's worth addressing if your trackers show a deficit.
