Ideally, you need around 1.5 hours of deep sleep, but if you are consistently feeling exhausted and waking up breathless, please consult a doctor. I ignored my extreme fatigue and poor sleep for a year before being diagnosed with severe sleep apnea. Don't delay a checkup.
A good sleep of 7-8 hours is what our body needs, out of which a few hours of very heavy, undisturbed sleep is natural. If you work hard during the day and keep your mind peaceful, your body will automatically take the deep rest it needs.
For most adults, deep sleep is about 15% to 20% of your total sleep, which comes to around 1 to 1.5 hours. To improve this, cut down on screen time after 9 PM and try taking a warm water bath before sleeping. It actually works wonders.
I totally get it, seeing low deep sleep numbers on your smartwatch can be so frustrating when you already feel tired. Usually, we need about 60 to 90 minutes of it. Try not to worry too much, sometimes just relaxing your mind helps you sleep better.
