How much are kidney stones worth?

My uncle just had a really painful kidney stone removal procedure. It makes me wonder, are kidney stones worth anything medically or for research? Or is this just a random thought, haha?

Bro, if you mean the treatment cost, it depends on the size. I had a 6mm stone last year, and the laser surgery plus hospital room cost me around 60,000 rupees in a private clinic. If they can flush it with medicine, it only costs a few hundred bucks for the pills.

For small stones, drinking lots of warm water, coconut water, and barley water helps a lot to flush them out naturally. But please don't just rely on this if the pain is unbearable. If you start vomiting or have fever, go straight to the clinic.

Physical pain is a way of our body asking us to slow down and reflect. Keep your mind calm, drink plenty of clean water, and let the healing happen. Everything will be fine, just take care of your body and consult a good doctor.

The worst part of kidney stones is giving up all the good food. My doctor made me stop eating spinach, tomatoes, and chocolates, which broke my heart. The actual medicine didn't cost much, but the emotional cost of avoiding my favorite food was too high!

Calculate the diagnostic costs first. An ultrasound will cost you 1,200 to 2,000 rupees, and blood tests another 1,500. Keep around 5,000 rupees aside just for the initial tests before the doctor even decides if you need surgery or just basic tablets.

The pain is really terrible, ho na. When my husband had it, he could not even sit down properly. Thankfully, the doctor gave him some simple tablets to dissolve it and told him to drink lime juice daily. Do not ignore it, go see a doctor soon.

Stones can sometimes be linked to other metabolic issues, just like my thyroid problems require constant monitoring. Make sure you get regular kidney function tests and follow up with your urologist every six months to make sure new stones aren't forming.

I use my smartwatch to track my daily water intake now because dehydration is the biggest cause of stones. If you have a small stone, keeping your hydration level above 3 liters a day is key. You can track this easily on any free fitness app.

Never ignore kidney pain. I delayed my checkup thinking it was normal back pain, and the stone ended up blocking my urinary tract, leading to a severe kidney infection. If you have intense pain or blood in urine, please go to a hospital immediately.

I know how terrifying that sudden lower back pain can be, it literally made me feel like something was severely wrong with my body. Please breathe, kidney stones are incredibly common and treatable. Once the doctor gives you the right plan, that anxiety will completely go away.
