How many years of smoking causes cancer?

I've been smoking since my college days, maybe 20 years now. Recently, my chest has been feeling a bit off, and I'm worried about cancer. How many years of smoking causes cancer?

I am quite new here and don't know much about this, but my father has been smoking for almost fifteen years now. It makes me really worried for his health. Does the risk go down significantly if someone decides to quit smoking completely today?

This question literally keeps me awake because the thought of genetic damage is so terrifying. Some people smoke for 40 years and seem fine, while others get sick much faster, which makes it feel like a scary lottery. Please, if you or someone you love smokes, try to seek professional help to quit as soon as possible.

Having PCOS makes me realize how vulnerable our bodies are to cellular changes and hormonal disruptions, and smoking definitely makes everything worse. While cancer risks usually increase significantly after 10 to 20 years of smoking, even short-term smoking damages cell DNA. It is best to consult a healthcare provider for proper screenings and advice.

While smoking for many years is a well-known direct cause of cellular mutations, poor dietary habits and lack of antioxidants make the body even less capable of fighting those toxins. Eating plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables rich in vitamin C can support lung health, but it cannot undo the damage of tobacco. Quitting smoking is the only true solution.

Beta, cigarette peene se sharir andar se khokhla ho jata hai. Kuch logo ko das-pandra saal mein hi badi bimari gher leti hai. Iska koi pakka samay nahi hota, isiliye jitna jaldi ho sake is buri aadat ko chhod dijiye aur apna dhyan rakhiye.
