How many kidney transplants can you have?

My uncle is considering a kidney transplant and he's worried about the future. He asked me if it's a one-time thing or if you can have more. So, how many kidney transplants can a person undergo?

You can have more than one, but each transplant is a major surgery. From my experience managing BP, I know that lifestyle post-transplant is everything. Regular checkups, proper diet, and medication adherence make a huge difference in the longevity of the new kidney.

Ram Ram! It's a very big thing, this transplant. Some people have one, some might need another later if the first one stops working. It's all God's will and what the doctors say is possible for that person. Har kisi ki kismat alag hoti hai.

Yaar, actually, it's not fixed like 'only two' or something. People can have multiple transplants in their lifetime if needed and if their body can handle it. But it's a huge thing, right? Lot of factors involved.

While it's medically possible for an individual to undergo more than one kidney transplant, the decision is highly complex and depends on many factors like patient health, donor availability, and surgical risks. Ultimately, the best advice comes from a transplant specialist.

This is a super interesting question. I always assumed it was just one and done. So, if someone has a second transplant, do they keep the old non-working one, or is it removed? So many questions about this.

Theoretically, multiple. Practically, each one carries significant risks and requires extensive recovery. It's not a decision taken lightly. If you're exploring options, consult a top nephrologist for realistic expectations and planning. Don't waste time on vague info.

I'm new to learning about this. Is it true that sometimes they leave the old kidneys in and just add new ones? So, a person could have more than two kidneys inside them after multiple transplants?
