How many heart beats per minute is a heart attack?

Someone told me that a heart attack can be identified by your heart rate. Is there a specific heart rate, like beats per minute, that indicates someone is having a heart attack? I want to be informed for emergencies.

Bhai, a heart attack isn't defined by a specific heart rate. It's when blood flow to the heart muscle is blocked. Your heart rate might change during an attack, but it's not the primary indicator. Don't confuse it with just a fast heartbeat. See a doctor if you have chest pain.

It's not about the BPM for a heart attack, it's more about the blood supply being cut off. If you have concerns, you should ask your doctor these questions very clearly. When I go to my hospital, they always explain things thoroughly. It's better to get facts from a professional.

You're asking about two different things. A heart attack (myocardial infarction) is a plumbing problem – a blockage. An arrhythmia is a heart rhythm problem. While an attack can sometimes cause rhythm changes, the BPM itself doesn't define it. Look for chest pain, arm pain, shortness of breath. Time is muscle, so call for help immediately.

Oh, this is confusing! I always thought a very fast or very slow heart rate could mean a heart attack. So, it's not about the BPM then? Has anyone else been confused by this too? What are the actual signs to look for?

A heart attack isn't about heart beats per minute, it's about blockage. My father had one, and his heart rate wasn't the main issue, it was severe chest pain and breathlessness. Please, if you ever feel anything abnormal like that, rush to the hospital. Don't wait.

This is an important point. Many people get confused. A heart attack is about blood flow being cut off, not necessarily a specific heart rate. For me, with diabetes, it's even more crucial to monitor for symptoms like chest discomfort, not just my pulse. Eat clean, stay active.

A heart attack isn't diagnosed by heart rate alone. If you're having symptoms, an ECG and blood tests (like troponin levels) are needed. These tests might seem costly but are critical for diagnosis. Don't delay getting to an emergency room if you suspect something.
