How many grams of sugar is enough to get diabetes?

My father recently got diagnosed with diabetes, and now I'm worried about myself. I have a really sweet tooth, always having mithai and chai. Is there a certain amount of sugar that really pushes you towards diabetes?

If getting diabetes only depended on a fixed gram of sugar, half our country would have been diagnosed in childhood with all the mithai we eat! Honestly, my doctor told me it is a mix of genetics and our lazy lifestyle. Now I just look at sweet boxes from a safe distance.

There is no fixed number of grams that directly triggers diabetes overnight. It is more about your overall daily routine, stress, and lack of activity. Just try to limit processed sugar to under 25-30 grams daily and keep moving during your work breaks.

Actually yaar, diabetes doesn't happen just by eating one extra gulab jamun. It is about how your body processes insulin over the years. But yes, drinking those sweetened sodas and high-sugar coffees daily is a direct invite to trouble.

Welcome to the group. Don't worry, eating sugar alone doesn't cause diabetes, but consuming too much of it daily makes you overweight, which increases the risk. Try to focus on home-cooked meals, plenty of green vegetables, and active walking every evening.

I used to panic so much about this and even stopped eating basic rice and fruits thinking I will get diabetes immediately. Please don't stress yourself out too much like I did. Just try to limit your external junk food and sweet tea, and you will be completely fine.

It is all about insulin sensitivity and daily activity. If you are burning those carbs through workouts or regular heavy training, your body manages sugar much better. Keep your added refined sugars low, but focus equally on building some basic muscle strength.

The onset of Type 2 diabetes is a complex metabolic process, not just a matter of sugar grams. Genetics, physical inactivity, and visceral fat play massive roles. It is best to consult a general physician and get a fasting blood glucose test to understand your individual metabolic health.
