How many died from yellow fever in 1793?

My history book mentioned the yellow fever epidemic in Philadelphia in 1793. It sounded like a really bad time. Can anyone tell me how many people died from yellow fever in that specific year?

I was reading about this for a college quiz, and around 5,000 people died in Philadelphia during that 1793 outbreak. That was almost 10% of the city's population back then. Pretty crazy how a single mosquito outbreak could shut down an entire city.

It was around 5,000 deaths in Philadelphia during that year. Back then, they didn't have basic mosquito nets or repellents. Today, keeping stagnant water away from our homes is a simple but effective way to prevent these mosquito diseases.

The Philadelphia epidemic of 1793 claimed about 5,000 lives. It shows how devastating infectious diseases can be without medical infrastructure. Keeping track of our health guidelines is as important now as it was back then.

Around 5,000 people died in that 1793 outbreak. It is wild to think about that level of mortality. Staying healthy, keeping your immunity up with good food, and working out regularly is our best defense against any modern bugs.

About 5,000 people passed away in Philadelphia in 1793. Because they didn't know mosquitoes transmitted the virus, they couldn't contain it. Thankfully, today we have a very effective vaccine that completely prevents yellow fever.
