How many days with a fever before seeing a doctor?

My wife has had a persistent fever for a few days now, and she's feeling very tired and weak. We've been giving her home remedies. At what point, or after how many days with a fever, should we consider taking her to see a doctor?

I've had a mild fever since yesterday and feel a bit nervous about going to the clinic. Is it okay to wait for 3 days before consulting a doctor, or should I go sooner if I also have a mild headache? I don't want to overreact.

Usually, for a basic fever, you can drink warm kadha and rest for 2 days. But if the heat doesn't come down on the third day, or if you feel very breathless or have severe pain, please don't rely on home tips and see a doctor immediately.

For adults, 3 days is the general limit for a standard fever before you should consult a doctor. However, if the fever is very high from day one, or accompanied by severe shivering or vomiting, you should get a checkup immediately.

Usually, in our hostel, we wait for 2 or 3 days of fever before we actually bother going to the college clinic. If it's just a mild temperature, sleeping it off works, but if it's 3 days and you're still dying, definitely go get checked.

I say 3 days is the absolute limit because after that, the lack of sleep and constant body aches just break you. Save yourself the misery and go see a doctor on day 3 instead of popping pills and hoping for a miracle.

Actually yaar, don't wait for more than 3 days. With all these viral infections and malaria going around, it's not worth the risk. If paracetamol isn't helping by the third day, just go see a general physician.

I just recovered from dengue last week. I waited 4 days thinking it was a normal viral fever, and my platelet count dropped quite a bit. Honestly, if your fever doesn't go away in 3 days, please go get tested immediately.

It can be really scary when a fever doesn't drop, and you start overthinking every symptom. Please don't suffer in anxiety; if you are on day 3 of a fever, just visiting a doctor can give you so much peace of mind and the right treatment.

I usually wait for 2 days, taking basic crocin and resting. If it enters day 3 and my body still feels like it's burning, I book an appointment with our family physician. Getting dehydrated is the worst, so don't wait too long.

With my kids, I never wait more than 48 hours for a fever. If it's an adult, you can manage with paracetamol for 3 days, but if the temperature doesn't settle by then, it is definitely time to visit the pediatrician or family doctor.

Keep a simple log of the temperature for 2 days. If basic paracetamol doesn't keep it down and you enter the third day with a high fever, go to your local clinic. It's better to spend a little on a doctor's visit than to face complications later.

When I visited a doctor at a major hospital last year, he told me that any fever lasting beyond 3 days requires a proper clinical evaluation and basic blood tests. Don't try to self-diagnose at home; clear medical advice is always the safest.
