How many days can a person go without sleep?

I'm working long hours and barely getting any sleep these days. It got me thinking, how many days can a person realistically go without sleep before serious health issues start?

A person can survive a few days, but the body starts breaking down within 24 to 48 hours. Please do not push yourself. If you are having trouble sleeping, try a warm bath or soothing music, and see a doctor if it goes beyond two days.

Some record says 11 days, but at my age, even 11 hours without sleep makes me look like a zombie. Don't try to find out your limit, your brain and heart need rest. Get to bed!

Honestly, after about 36 hours of staying awake during exams, I started seeing double. Even if people say you can survive 10 days, your brain stops working properly after just one night. Sleep is majorly important.

From what I was reading online, the longest recorded time is about 11 days, but that's an extreme case. Most medical articles say severe cognitive decline and paranoia start within 3 to 4 days of total sleep deprivation.

Going without sleep is so bad for health, ho na. People might survive 3-4 days but the mind gets totally disturbed. If you are facing severe sleeplessness, please don't ignore it and consult a doctor.
