How many days after a fever are you contagious?

My son just recovered from a fever, and I'm wondering if he can go back to school. How many days after a fever are you contagious? I don't want him to spread anything to his classmates.

You are usually contagious for at least 24 hours after your fever is completely gone without using any medicine.

I was looking this up because my roommate got sick. Most medical sites say you should wait for a full 24 hours of being fever-free without taking paracetamol before you go out, to avoid spreading the virus.

Stay home and rest for at least 24 hours after the fever drops. Pushing yourself to go back to the gym too early is bad for your recovery and also risky for others around you. Keep hydrating!

Actually, you should isolate for at least 24 hours after the fever is totally gone, yaar. Don't rush back to office immediately, otherwise everyone else in the bay will get sick too!

When my son had viral fever, the pediatrician at Apollo Hospital told us that he was contagious until 24 hours after his temperature returned to normal naturally. Please ask your doctor clearly about isolation times.
