How many cycles of rem sleep per night?

I've been feeling quite tired lately, even after sleeping for 7-8 hours. Someone told me it could be because of my sleep cycles. How many cycles of REM sleep are we supposed to get per night for proper rest? I want to understand my sleep better.

I totally get why you are tracking this, because my sleep anxiety used to make me obsessed with my fitness band data. Normally we get about 4 to 6 REM cycles a night. Try not to stress about the exact numbers, it actually makes sleeping harder!

According to the neurologist I consulted for my insomnia, we go through 4 to 5 sleep cycles a night, and REM occurs in each, getting longer towards the morning. He advised focusing on total rest hours rather than worrying about tracker data.

I used to feel so frustrated seeing my low REM sleep scores on my watch, it really affected my mental peace. Yes, 4 to 6 cycles are typical, but please remember these wearable trackers are not 100% accurate. Don't let it upset you.

Sahi bataun toh ye sab tech bands hume faltu me darate hain. Normal insaan ko 4-5 baar REM sleep milti hai pure raat me. Chupchap phone side rkho aur 7-8 ghante so jao, sab normal ho jayega.

At my age, getting even 1 peaceful cycle of sleep without waking up to pee is a miracle, let alone 4 or 5 REM cycles! Joking aside, around 4 to 5 is normal, so don't lose sleep over your sleep data.
