How many carbs should diabetics eat a day?

Both my parents are diabetic, and I'm trying to help them with their diet. How many carbs should diabetics eat a day? We want to prepare healthy meals for them.

I am always so terrified that even a small bite of roti will spike my sugar levels, so I end up overthinking every single meal. It is really stressful to manage this on your own. Please go to a good doctor to get a clear daily limit so you don't end up worrying constantly like me.

Honestly, between my late-night work calls and sleep deprivation, counting carb grams feels like rocket science. I just try to avoid the office pantry snacks and keep my meals basic. Please do yourself a favor and get a simple daily target directly from your doctor.

A standard moderate carb intake is around 130g, but pairing that with a brisk 20-minute walk after meals really helps manage blood sugar. Physical activity helps your body process those carbs much better. Of course, always check with your doctor before starting any new exercise or diet routine.

I completely agree that managing portion sizes is key. Swapping normal rice with brown rice or millet can help keep your daily sugar levels much more stable.

Haan na, figuring out carbs in our daily dal-rice is so confusing. I have started eating bhakri instead of normal wheat roti and it feels much lighter. But honestly, you must consult your doctor to get a clear and safe daily limit.

Living in a college hostel and managing sugar is so hard because everything here is just carbs and oil. I try to limit myself to one roti and take extra dal whenever possible. If you can, definitely get a proper plan from a doctor so you don't have to keep guessing.

We are simple people and don't understand these complex carb measurements very well. My doctor told me to just eat less rice, more green vegetables from our farm, and walk daily. Please go see your doctor in the city to get a proper diet chart for your health.

In practice, we usually recommend that diabetic patients aim for around 130 to 150 grams of complex carbohydrates per day, spread across meals. This helps prevent sudden blood sugar spikes. Please make sure to get regular blood tests and consult your physician for your specific range.
