How long will benadryl make you sleep?

Sometimes I take Benadryl when I have severe allergies, and it makes me really drowsy. I was wondering, how long does the sleepiness effect from Benadryl usually last? I need to plan my day around it.

In my younger days, whenever I took it for a bad cough, it would knock me out for easily 6 to 8 hours. The next morning would also feel very heavy and groggy. It is better not to rely on cough syrups just to get sleep.

Usually, the sedative effect of antihistamines lasts around 4 to 6 hours, but you might feel sluggish for longer. If you are struggling with sleep, try doing some evening workouts and avoid screens before bed instead of taking syrups.

Oh, it makes me sleep for almost 8 hours and then I feel like a zombie the whole next day. I always worry about getting addicted to it or having side effects. Please be careful with the dosage and maybe ask your doctor before taking it.

I totally get it, when you are exhausted and can't sleep, you just want something to help. It usually keeps most people drowsy for 6 hours or so. Try to take it only when you have enough time to rest properly the next day.

Take it tonight and you might wake up directly in the next century! Seriously though, expect to be out for 6 to 8 hours. Just make sure you don't plan any heavy lifting or driving after taking it.

Bro, that stuff keeps me down for at least 7 hours. I took it once during exams because of a cold and literally slept through my alarm. Don't take it if you have something important to do the next morning.
