How long to wait to sleep after concussion?

My friend fell during sports and hit her head, the doctor said it's a mild concussion. They told her not to sleep immediately, but didn't specify for how long. What's the recommended waiting time before sleeping after a concussion?

In our times, we were told never to let someone sleep immediately after a hard blow to the head. We used to keep the person awake for a few hours, talking to them and applying cold compresses. Please be very careful with head injuries and keep checking on them.

The old belief was to stay awake, but actually modern research says rest is super good for recovery! Just make sure someone checks on you every few hours to be safe. Rest well and get healthy soon!

Please do not ignore a concussion or try to manage it at home like I stupidly did once. I went to sleep after a bad fall and woke up with severe vomiting and a terrible bleed that needed emergency care. Go to a hospital and get a scan done immediately.

The classic movie style of keeping someone awake by slapping them isn't really necessary anymore! Just don't go to sleep immediately without a doctor checking you out first. Once the doc says okay, you can happily sleep like a baby.

A concussion is a serious brain injury, and sleeping without a proper medical evaluation can be extremely dangerous. You must visit the emergency room immediately to rule out any internal bleeding. Do not sleep or wait at home until a doctor has cleared you.

Actually yaar, that old logic of staying awake for 24 hours is outdated now. Doctors now say sleeping is fine as long as you don't have severe symptoms like vomiting or extreme dizziness. But honestly, pehle doctor ko dikha lo safety ke liye.
