How long should the pain last after wisdom tooth extraction?

Had my wisdom tooth removed yesterday, and the pain is still quite bad. My dentist said it would be sore, but I'm wondering how long this level of pain usually lasts after the extraction. Is it normal to still be hurting this much?

Girl, don't stress too much! Wisdom tooth pain is totally normal for a bit. Usually, the worst of it lasts about 3-5 days. After that, it should gradually get better. Just keep taking your meds and follow the doc's instructions, like soft foods. If it gets worse after 3-4 days, call your dentist!

It's completely normal to feel anxious about post-extraction pain, I've been there! The acute pain typically lasts for 3-5 days, slowly improving. Swelling might take a bit longer to subside. If the pain gets worse after a few days, or if you develop a bad taste, please see your dentist immediately, it could be a dry socket.

After a wisdom tooth extraction, some pain is expected. Usually, the strong pain lasts for 3 to 5 days, and then it becomes a dull ache that can last for a week or even ten days. You can try saltwater rinses after 24 hours, it helps. But if the pain becomes very severe, or you notice swelling increasing, or fever, please see your dentist without delay.

Ugh, wisdom tooth extraction is a pain (literally)! For me, the really bad pain was like 3-4 days. After that, it was just dull soreness for another week or so. Definitely take your pain meds regularly and stick to soft food, no straws! If it's throbbing or feels worse, call your dentist ASAP.

I'm having my wisdom tooth extracted next month and I'm so scared of the pain! So it usually lasts a few days? Do the pain meds really help a lot, or is it still very uncomfortable? I heard about dry socket, is that very common?

Generally, the severe pain should start decreasing after 2-3 days and completely subside within a week. But with any dental surgery, there's always a risk of infection or dry socket. So if your pain is worsening, if there's pus, bad smell, or fever, please, please get it checked by your dentist immediately. Don't take chances.

Post-wisdom tooth extraction, acute pain typically subsides within 3-5 days. You might experience some discomfort and swelling for up to a week. Full recovery can take a few weeks. Crucially, follow your dentist's post-operative instructions, including medication, ice packs, and soft diet, to prevent complications like dry socket. If pain intensifies after a few days, contact your dentist.
