How long should piles last?

My husband has been suffering from piles for a few weeks, and it's causing him a lot of discomfort. We've tried home remedies, but he's still in pain. We want to know how long piles usually last before they clear up, or if we should see a specialist soon.

Piles, or hemorrhoids, can last anywhere from a few days to several weeks, depending on their severity and whether you're actively managing them. If they're persistent, painful, or bleeding, you absolutely must see a doctor. Don't delay professional medical advice for this condition.

Piles are very uncomfortable, I know. For mild cases, eating lots of fiber, drinking water, and warm sitz baths can bring relief in a few days to a week. But if there's severe pain, bleeding, or if they don't get better, you must see a doctor. Don't try to manage severe symptoms only at home.

As a vegetarian, I focus a lot on diet. Piles often get better with high-fiber foods, plenty of water, and avoiding spicy, oily stuff. Mild cases might resolve in a week or two with these changes. But if it's severe or persistent, please consult a gastroenterologist. Diet helps but sometimes medical intervention is necessary.

My elder brother had issues with piles. For him, with proper diet changes, warm sitz baths, and some medication prescribed by the doctor, the discomfort eased in about a week. But he had to maintain a good diet to prevent recurrence. If it's not improving, don't just wait; get it checked by a specialist.

Piles, yaar, they overstay their welcome like uninvited guests! Ideally, they should disappear in a few days with proper care. But if they're having a long-term party or getting too painful, it's time to politely ask them to leave, with the help of a doctor, of course!
