How long does magnesium take to work for muscle pain?

I've been having muscle cramps after my workouts, and someone suggested taking magnesium supplements. I bought some yesterday. How long does magnesium typically take to start working for muscle pain relief?

I have been using magnesium spray for my calf cramps for the last ten years. In my experience, it gives relief within 20 to 30 minutes of applying it locally. Oral tablets might take a few days of regular use to show a proper difference.

Keep your mind calm and have faith. Usually, magnesium supplements or even a warm bath with Epsom salts can start soothing your tired muscles within a few hours. God has given our body beautiful ways to heal, just give it some quiet rest.

If you are taking oral magnesium bisglycinate for muscle recovery, it generally takes about 3 to 7 days of daily intake to build up in your system and show results. For instant relief from gym soreness, a magnesium gel works much faster. Make sure to stay hydrated too.

Yes, oral magnesium takes a few days to show full effect. Just make sure you take it after dinner because it also helps you sleep much better.

My orthopedist mentioned that acute muscle cramps can improve within hours of taking a highly bioavailable magnesium supplement. However, for chronic muscular pain or deficiency, you need to continue the prescribed dosage for at least 4 to 6 weeks to see a lasting change.

I started taking magnesium because my legs were cramping at night, keeping me awake till 3 AM. It took about four days for the pain to subside, but honestly, the best side effect is that I finally slept like a baby last night.
