How long does lower back pain last?

I've been having lower back pain for the past few days, especially after sitting for long hours at work. It's not severe, but it's annoying. How long does lower back pain typically last, or when should I be concerned?

I had terrible lower back pain last winter and tried hot water bags, mustard oil massage, and Ajwain potli. Honestly, the mild muscular pain usually goes away in 1 to 2 weeks with these remedies, but if it is a disc issue, you need proper medical help.

Bro, if it is just a muscle pull from gym or lifting heavy stuff, it should go away in 4 to 5 days max. Just take rest and do some light stretching. If it still hurts after a week, go get it checked before you lift again.

I know how exhausting back pain can be, it literally drains your energy and makes you feel so helpless. Mine lasted for six long weeks and I felt so down. Please be gentle with yourself and give your body time to heal.

At my age, chronic back pain can linger for months if you don't maintain a good sitting posture. I also have high BP, so my doctor told me to walk daily and avoid heavy painkillers for my back. A proper clinical checkup is very important.

Don't worry, most lower back pain is acute and settles down within 2 to 3 weeks with basic rest and correct posture. Just don't bend forward or lift heavy buckets of water right now. If the pain shoots down your leg, then we must consult an orthopedist immediately.

Instead of spending thousands on expensive scans right away, just try sleeping on a thin mattress on the floor or a firm bed for 4-5 days. That simple change cured my lower back ache which was dragging on for three weeks.

Normally, simple mechanical back pain starts improving within 72 hours with basic rest and local pain relief gel. Try to avoid sleeping on a very soft mattress. If you feel any numbness or loss of bladder control, please go to the emergency room immediately.

We went to Kokilaben Hospital when my wife's back pain did not subside for a month. The doctor clearly explained the difference between muscle spasm and nerve compression. Please ask your doctor for an MRI if the pain persists past 4 weeks.
