How long does liver repair take?

My brother had some liver damage due to an illness, and he's now on medication and following a strict diet. He's very motivated to get better. We were wondering, how long does it typically take for the liver to repair itself, if the damage isn't too severe?

My liver enzymes were super high last year due to fatty liver grade 2. It took me around 4 months of zero alcohol, absolutely no oily food, and daily walks to get my liver reports completely back to normal. The liver is amazing at healing, but you have to be disciplined.

If your doctor permits, starting a daily 45-minute brisk walk can speed up liver repair significantly by reducing fat accumulation. For me, combining a clean diet with regular moderate cardio helped reverse my mild fatty liver in about 3 months.

Look, liver repair isn't a 2-day magic trick. If you keep drinking alcohol or eating junk food, it will never heal. Give it a clean diet and pure rest for at least 6 to 12 weeks, then go do a blood test to see the difference.

Beta, the liver is a very forgiving organ if you treat it well. Along with whatever medicines your doctor has given, try drinking warm water with a little lemon in the morning, and eat simple home-cooked food. Avoid heavy spices for 2 months to let it heal quietly.

Please don't assume how long it will take based on online comments. The repair timeline depends heavily on whether the damage is mild fatty liver or something serious like fibrosis. Get a proper FibroScan and liver function test done through a gastroenterologist first.

My senior in hostel had some liver issue and the doctor told him it takes at least 30 to 45 days for the liver cells to regenerate. He basically lived on boiled papaya and curd-rice for a month and now he's totally fine.

I totally get it, waiting for health reports to improve can be so stressful. Try to take it one day at a time; with a clean diet, the liver usually starts showing good recovery within 6 to 8 weeks. Stay positive, you are doing the right things.
