How long does liver pate last?
I bought some liver pâté from a gourmet store, and it's quite expensive, so I don't want to waste it. I've stored it in the fridge. I'm wondering, how long does liver pâté usually last after opening the container?

In our younger days we didn't have fancy packaging, but any meat spread or liver pate must be eaten quickly. Once you open the tin, don't keep it for more than 2 or 3 days in the fridge. It spoils very fast and can cause bad stomach infections.
I bought a jar of liver pate because it looked fancy, but then forgot about it in my late-night work fog. Honestly, if it's open, finish it within 3 days or just throw it. Don't risk food poisoning when you are already running on 4 hours of sleep like me.
Hey there! Homemade liver pate usually stays good for about 3 to 4 days in a proper airtight container in the fridge. If you want it to last longer, you can pour a layer of melted butter on top to seal it! 😊
I am always terrified of meat-borne bacteria, so I never keep open liver pate for more than 48 hours. Please smell it closely before eating; if it looks slightly greyish or smells sour, discard it immediately. Botulism and food poisoning are really not worth the risk.
I literally got a terrible stomach bug last month from eating pate that was open in the fridge for five days. It looked fine but my stomach was wrecked for a week. Trust me, do not cross the 3-day mark once the seal is broken.

Pate is very high in sodium and fats, so I have stopped eating it to keep my blood pressure under control. But when my kids buy it, they finish it within 2 days of opening. Make sure you check the expiry date on the pack if it is store-bought.
If you are like my flatmates, it won't even last 2 hours because they will wipe the bowl clean with toast! But scientifically speaking, keep it for maximum 3 days in the fridge unless you want your stomach to throw a massive protest.
