How long does liver inflammation take to go down?

My recent blood tests showed elevated liver enzymes, indicating some inflammation. The doctor has given me some lifestyle advice. I'm trying to be diligent. How long does liver inflammation typically take to go down with proper care?

Honestly it depends on how well you can control your cravings. When my liver was inflamed my doctor put me on a super strict boiled food diet for almost a month. No butter chicken or paranthas at all, which was torture, but the swelling finally went down after about 5 weeks.

Beta, don't worry too much because the liver has a wonderful capacity to heal itself if you give it rest. In my late 40s I had severe inflammation due to some heavy medication side effects. It took nearly 2 to 3 months of simple home-cooked khichdi and complete rest to fully recover.

The timeline really depends on the underlying cause, whether it is viral, fatty liver, or alcohol-related. Usually, mild swelling starts resolving in a few weeks once the trigger is removed, but you must consult your gastroenterologist. They will run LFT blood tests to monitor the exact progress anyway.

My doctor told me my liver was inflamed and I needed to sleep 8 hours daily for it to recover. I laughed because with my night shifts that is literally impossible. But seriously, it took about two months of patchy sleep and absolute zero alcohol before my blood reports came back to normal.

When my father had liver swelling, we took him to Apollo and the specialist there explained everything very clearly. They told us it takes anywhere from 4 weeks to 6 months depending on the grade of inflammation. Please ask your doctor to explain the ultrasound report properly so you don't guess.

I tried all kinds of herbal juices and ayurvedic syrups when my liver enzymes went high, but honestly, only resting and cutting out oil worked. It took almost two months of plain bottle gourd juice and simple boiled veggies to get my reports back to normal. Don't rush it.

My physician explained that acute inflammation from viral infections can resolve in 4 to 6 weeks. However, if it is chronic fatty liver inflammation, it requires lifestyle changes and can take several months of regular exercise and diet control to show real improvement on ultrasound.

Bro, my liver was super angry last semester because of too much junk food and zero sleep. Doc told me to totally stop fried food and outside chai. Took like a solid month of boring hostel mess food to feel normal again.

I agree with others, healing takes time. Just avoid taking any random painkillers or heavy supplements right now as they load the liver even more.
