How long does liquid morphine take to ease pain?

My elderly mother is in a lot of pain due to her advanced arthritis, and her doctor has prescribed liquid morphine. We gave her the first dose. I'm anxious to see her feel better; how long does liquid morphine usually take to start easing the pain?

Liquid morphine usually starts acting within 15 to 30 minutes. Since this is a very strong and serious prescription drug, please use it strictly as advised by your palliative care specialist. Do not combine it with any home herbs or alternate remedies without the doctor's explicit permission.

It takes about 20 to 30 minutes to show effect and the relief lasts for about 4 hours. Just like we carefully adjust thyroid medications based on regular blood reports, morphine dosage must be monitored closely by the hospital. Make sure to report any side effects like severe drowsiness to the doctor.

It kicks in pretty quickly, about 15-20 minutes, and will put you or the patient to sleep in no time. Honestly, it's a heavy-duty medication, so make sure you use the proper syringe or dropper provided to measure the exact dose. Don't eyeball it like we do with cough syrups!

It usually eases severe pain within 30 minutes of taking it. Please note that morphine can cause very severe constipation, so the patient must be given fiber-rich foods or a doctor-approved laxative. Keep their diet light and easy to digest.

It takes 15 to 30 minutes to work, peaking around 1 hour. Because morphine is an opioid with high risks of respiratory depression, never change the dose on your own. If the patient is having any difficulty breathing or is impossible to wake up, seek emergency medical care immediately.
