How long does kidney donor testing take?

I'm considering donating a kidney to a family member, and I'm trying to understand the whole process. The initial tests seem quite thorough. How long does the entire kidney donor testing and evaluation process typically take before approval?

Testing usually takes anywhere between 1 to 3 months because they have to check cross-matching, tissue typing, and overall health of the donor. Do not believe anyone online claiming they can get it done in a week with shortcut tests. Go to a government-authorized transplant center and follow their legal protocol only.

It takes about a month or two because they run multiple blood and urine tests. During this evaluation phase, the donor must eat a very clean, low-salt, light vegetarian diet to keep the liver and kidney parameters absolutely perfect. Avoid heavy oily foods completely so the test results come out accurate.

Honestly, it feels like it takes forever, easily 4 to 8 weeks because they test everything from your head to your toes. You'll spend half your life sitting in hospital waiting rooms and giving blood samples. Just keep some patience and a fully charged power bank with you!

It generally takes about 3 to 6 weeks to complete all the medical and psychological evaluations. It is a detailed process to make sure the donor stays completely safe and healthy after the donation. Wishing you and your family all the strength and smooth reports.

Bhai, isme lagbhag ek se do mahina lag jata hai kyunki bade doctor log sab jaanch acche se karte hain. Aap bilkul ghabrana mat, humare rishtedar ne bhi diya tha aur ab dono khush-haal hain. Bas doctor jo kahe wahi niyam se kijiye.
