How long does it take to shrink your liver?

My doctor told me I have a fatty liver and need to make some lifestyle changes. I've cut down on alcohol and junk food. How much time does it usually take for the liver to shrink back to a normal size?

I got so terrified when my ultrasound showed grade 2 fatty liver, I couldn't sleep for days! But my doctor reassured me that with proper care, it starts improving in a few months. Please don't panic, just cut out sugar and follow your doctor's treatment plan closely.

If you are dealing with fatty liver, shrinking it and reducing liver volume typically takes about 3 to 6 months of systematic lifestyle changes. You need to focus on a strict diet and regular cardiovascular exercise. Plan your meals weekly to avoid ordering fast food during busy workdays.

Please do not try to manage an enlarged or fatty liver on your own with random internet detox diets. I had severe inflammation because I delayed proper treatment and tried self-medicating. A hepatologist must monitor you with regular liver function tests to avoid further complications.

Reducing liver fat requires cutting out simple carbohydrates, especially sweets and processed foods. A clean, high-fiber vegetarian diet with plenty of green leafy vegetables can help improve liver health in 12 to 16 weeks. Focus on whole grains like oats and jowar instead of refined flour.

It is really hard to hear that your liver is enlarged, and the diet restrictions can feel quite depressing at first. It took me nearly 6 months of giving up alcohol and fried foods to see my liver enzymes return to normal. Hang in there, it is a slow emotional and physical journey but you will get through it.

In our days, we relied heavily on simple, light food like boiled vegetables and buttermilk to give the liver some rest. You can slowly drink warm water with a bit of amla powder in the morning, as it is good for digestion. But remember to always keep your family doctor informed about your condition.
