How long does it take to remove dandruff?

I've been having dandruff issues for a while now, and it's quite embarrassing. I've tried a few shampoos but it keeps coming back. I want to know, how long does it generally take to completely remove dandruff and have a healthy scalp?

If you are using a good clinically proven ketoconazole shampoo twice a week, it usually takes about 2 to 3 weeks to see a major reduction in dandruff. Don't expect instant overnight results, consistency is key when you have a busy work schedule. Just leave the shampoo on your scalp for 5 minutes before rinsing.

While normal dandruff clears up in a month with standard anti-dandruff shampoos, persistent flaking could actually be seborrheic dermatitis or psoriasis. If you notice severe redness, itching, or bleeding, please do not experiment with home remedies. It is much safer to consult a qualified dermatologist for a proper diagnosis.

I struggled with heavy flakes for months and finally got relief by oiling my hair less and using a tea tree oil-based shampoo twice a week. It took about 4 weeks for my scalp to become completely clean. Heavy oiling actually made my dandruff worse, which was a surprising realization for me.

I agree with the 3-week timeline. Using a zinc pyrithione shampoo regularly worked wonders for my stubborn flakes within a month.

I was reading up on scalp health and found out that dandruff is caused by a yeast-like fungus that feeds on scalp oils. Apparently, most medical shampoos take about 3 to 4 weeks to balance the scalp microflora. It is interesting how dietary changes like cutting sugar also help speed up the recovery process.

No need to buy those fancy, expensive salon scalp treatments that cost thousands of rupees. A simple medical anti-dandruff shampoo from your local pharmacy costs less than 200 rupees and works much better in 3 weeks. Save your money and stick to basic, scientifically proven medical products.
