How long does it take to get over a fever?

My little one has a fever since yesterday and I'm giving her paracetamol. I always worry when she's sick, so I want to know, generally, how long does it take for a child to get over a fever?

A viral fever usually clears up in 3 to 5 days, but don't keep guessing at home. I always visit a proper hospital and ask the doctor clearly about what tests are needed. It is better to get professional advice early instead of waiting it out.

True, a normal fever shouldn't last more than 3 or 4 days. Just make sure you are drinking lots of warm water and taking complete bed rest.

Please don't wait for more than 2 days thinking it will just go away on its own. I once ignored a mild fever for a week and it turned into a severe infection that put me in the ICU. Go get your blood tests done if the temperature doesn't drop soon.

Honestly, a standard viral bug takes about 3 to 7 days to fully exit your system. Stop popping random paracetamols every time you feel warm and just consult a doc. Keep yourself hydrated with coconut water and let your body fight it off.

Expect to be out of action for at least 3 to 4 days, as body weakness persists even after the fever drops. Don't rush back to work too quickly or you will just prolong the recovery. Take two days of proper sick leave, sleep it off, and eat light meals.

Usually, it should resolve in 3 days, but I get so anxious when my temperature rises even slightly. What if it is dengue or malaria? Please keep checking your temperature with a digital thermometer and consult a doctor if you feel very weak or if the fever touches 102.
