How long does it take to get kidney stones?

My uncle recently had kidney stones, and the pain sounded awful. I'm trying to stay hydrated and eat healthily, but I was wondering, if someone has predisposing factors, how long does it usually take to get kidney stones?

I heard they can form silently over a few months if you don't drink enough water. I always get worried when I feel a slight pain in my side. Has anyone else felt that fear of suddenly getting stones?

Yes, it takes several months of dehydration for minerals to crystallize into stones. Drinking 3 liters of water daily is the easiest way to prevent it.

I got a 5mm stone last year because of my high salt diet and terrible water intake. It took around 6 months to form according to my doctor. Now I carry a water bottle everywhere, lesson learned the hard way.

Kidney stones don't appear in a day; they are a result of chronic dehydration and dietary habits over months or years. For any symptoms like blood in urine or severe flank pain, skipping internet remedies and seeing a specialist is the best course of action.

My doctor at Medanta explained that stone formation rate varies, but it usually takes months of mineral accumulation. If you have a family history, please consult your doctor clearly and get an ultrasound done to check.

I totally get how scary the thought of kidney stone pain can be, as it is notoriously painful. They usually take a few months to years to grow big enough to cause issues. If you ever feel sharp, severe pain in your back or side, please go to a doctor immediately.

Haan na, we completely forget to drink water when we are busy working. These stones take months to form silently, and then suddenly cause huge pain. Just keep a water bottle on your desk, ho na.
